A checklist before price returns to the zone
Five questions we ask in clinic when a confluence band is approaching — before any order is considered.
Reaction planning is the quiet half of confluence training. Drawing the zone is only half the craft. Before price returns, we walk a short checklist aloud.
- Is the higher timeframe still intact? If the daily structure that justified the zone has broken, the hourly plan is retired.
- Have anchors been revised? New swings may have appeared. Update or abandon the zone.
- What counts as a touch? Define a close into the band versus a wick. Write it.
- What is invalidation? A close beyond a stated level — not a feeling mid-candle.
- What will you do if you skip? Skipping is a valid outcome. Record why so the journal stays honest.
Clinics spend more time on questions three and four than on finding new lines. Traders who arrive hungry for setups often leave with fewer trades and clearer notes — which is the point of the work.
