Swing anchors that survive a rainy Monday
How we choose swing highs and lows that still look honest after the next session’s noise.
Monday gaps and thin overnight prints tempt traders to relocate every swing. Our coaching sessions start with a simpler rule: an anchor stays until a clearer swing replaces it — not until the mood changes.
Size relative to recent range
On an equity index, a two-point wiggle inside a forty-point impulse is not a swing for trendline work. We measure the impulse first, then ask which pauses other participants would also circle.
Left-to-right discipline
Mark swings from left to right without peeking at the unfinished right edge for convenience. Forward-looking anchors create lines that only look brilliant in hindsight.
Writing it down
In private coaching we ask clients to list the date and price of each anchor they keep. The list makes over-drawing obvious. If you cannot explain an anchor in one sentence, erase the line that depends on it.
